One of my favorite hobbies is shopping as my own DIY Personal Stylist. I love to gather inspiration from Pinterest, Instagram, and magazines. I recently pulled off a look that has been one of my favorites.
My DIY Personal Stylist skills are always used within my budget. This event was no exception. Every year, we have an Annual Banquet for our non-profit organization, No Longer Bound. On top of the main purpose of why we exist as an organization, it is always a good excuse to buy a new dress and glam up.
My goal was to channel my “Inner JLo” and match her style from a tux-type dress she wore on American Idol in 2014. I fell in love with this look during this season of American Idol and had to have it.
In my search to find something similar, I was able to find this dress (Ann Taylor, $20). However, I have now had this dress for over two years. When I bought it, I couldn’t wait for the chance to wear it, and then…I got pregnant. Needless to say it sat in my closet all this time. I was absolutely thrilled when I realized that I could fit back into it and just in time for our 2017 Annual Banquet. A little “vintage” doesn’t scare me.
I wanted to be comfortable for the night and this dress was perfect. Most of all, I knew I would be speaking on stage, so I wanted to make sure it was appropriate and still glamorous.
The main event of the night…taking this man’s breath away. The best decision I ever made was marrying this man. He is definitely my EVERYTHING!
There is always a way to be a DIY Personal Stylist within your budget. I love the challenge of digging through racks and searching through websites to find pieces that represent my own personality and looks I love.
