There could be a huge debate over shopping in person within a “brick and mortar” business versus shopping online. Many businesses have had to change there approach to inventory and customer service due to this modern day take on shopping. I for one love having time alone to roam a store, but the convenience of shopping in my pajamas is all together perfect as well. However, with new clothing subscriptions popping up everywhere, it adds a whole different level of shopping to the competition.
I’ve been skeptical of these subscriptions since the beginning. I’ve had several friends try it out and love it. Even the outfits they wear are cute and they loved to brag how it just came straight to their door. But I still wasn’t sold. I like my own fashion sense and the time it takes me to shop. My favorite part of it is putting together pieces that are unique to me.
But then I found out that Nordstrom had their own clothing subscription. I LOVE anything Nordstrom so I decided to give it a try. I introduce to you Trunk Club. The day this package arrived in the mail was like getting an early delivery from Santa!
To begin, Trunk Club lets you create a profile that fits your personality. A stylist is then in charge of picking out your wardrobe. You can set your subscription for as often as you like and you only pay for the clothes you keep. The unique thing about Trunk Club though is that you can return your pieces in the mail with a free shipping label that is provided or you can return it to any Nordstrom store.
Within your profile you have the ability to set a price range as well as choose pieces that represent your style. In my experience, the stylists have been so thorough in analyzing my style and size that my pieces have been right on for my taste in fashion.
Since I love to shop for a good sale, some pieces that have arrived seemed over priced. That is, compared to stores like TJMaxx and even Nordstrom Rack that carry the same brands. For those pieces, I sent them back. On the other hand, other items that I knew I probably wouldn’t find again were the ones I chose to keep.
Although I will still continue to shop in the “brick and mortar” businesses as well as online, I do think the concept of a clothing subscription is genius. I may eventually give another subscription brand a try, but for now my overall review for Nordstrom’s Trunk Club is very positive. Comment below on your experience with a clothing subscription. I would love to know what brand you’ve used and if you would recommend it.
