Happy Valentine’s Day! It is the season for “love” and spending time with the special people in your life. For some, this day can bring the blues. But I’ve got 3 tips to make this Valentine’s Day a day to remember, no matter what your relationship status may be. It’s time to love on yourself and others!
Steps for a Happy Valentine’s Day
1) Start the day with gratitude! If you have been following me for some time, you know I always start my day with my journal. Even if you do not have someone to celebrate this holiday with, find something to be grateful for and write it out. List the people in your life you love and those that have loved you. A fresh cup of coffee and a fresh mind can always make a positive impact on your day.
2) Reach out to someone you love! It is scientifically proven that when we give, rather than get, our mood can change. Today, make an effort to contact a special person in your life. Even if it is your mom, let her know how much you love her. Send someone flowers, even though you may wish someone would send them to you. Reach out with a phone call or leave someone a note. Today can be a day you mark as giving rather than receiving.
3) Make a plan to do something YOU enjoy! If you enjoy alone time, then plan something simple yet out of the ordinary. This can be going to see a movie alone, spending time with a book at your favorite coffee shop, or taking a bubble bath. Time alone can be recharging for many people so don’t be scared or embarrassed to make that a part of your Valentine’s Day.
Overall, just do something today that you LOVE! Life is too short to let the little moments pass you by. Live every day without regrets. Smile more and be present. If today is hard for you, put on your Red Dress and get busy celebrating life!
